Richard Lesniewski, 65 of Litchfield
Richard Lesniewski, 65 of Litchfield entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 16th, 2011 in Colebrook, CT doing what he loved best -- enjoying the outdoors and the magnificence of God's creation. Rich's greatest and most treasured love was his family. Beloved husband, father, Poppy, brother, and faithful friend to many, Rich leaves a wonderful legacy to all who knew him and loved him.
Richard is survived by his wife, MaryEllen (McGevna) Lesniewski; his son, Robert Lesniewski and his wife Shannon of Harwinton, his son Robert McGevna and wife, Jennifer of Barkhamsted and his daughter Jodi McKay and husband Tom of Barkhamsted. He will especially be missed by all his beautiful grandchildren: Brighton, Seamus & Declan McGevna, Makaela, Austin & Tori Lesniewski & Gabrielle McKay. He also leaves behind his brother, Victor Lesniewski and his wife, Jolene; his sister, Roberta Davis and her husband Gregg and his nieces and nephews-Kelly & Patrick Walsh, Victor Lesniewski, Kyle & Brittney LaBonte, Eric & Kerry McGevna, Colleen Lopez, Sean & Matthew McGevna.
Rich lived for his time with family and friends and the great outdoors: hunting, fishing, grilling, and playing with the pups (Reilly & Finnegan)
Richard worked for UPS for 31 yrs before retiring and then worked part time for Northwestern CT Transit bus company for the past 5yrs, driving the Litchfield bus.
Richard was a proud member of the Torrington Elks lodge, The American Legion Morgan Weir Post in Litchfield and The Harwinton Rod & Gun club. He served proudly in the United States Army as a communications tech during Vietnam from 1966 - 1968. During that time he was awarded the national defense service medal, The Vietnam campaign medal and The Vietnam service medal.
Richard was adored and loved by so many and will truly be missed.

I read an article recently how we are only on this earth-doing God's work- sent here on earth from our real home in Heaven! Through God's work, Rich left some incredibly wonderful people along with their creations, and I am happy to share "Life" here on earth with them.
You are all in my prayer!! Rob, Shannon, If there's ANYTHING I or Bill can do, Please call or yell across the lawn! We're here for you and yours. Cherish the memories and know "Dad" is "shining" down on you all' As Always, Cory

Mel,
I am so increadibly sorry for your loss.

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
When the shadows fall-
You do not walk alone

They say one's greatness can only be trully recognized in death. And through these tough times people come together to remember and share memories and tell of how Rich influenced their lives. Seeing the amount of positivity and number of people he helped, touched, and influenced is amazing. Rich is a great man and has a beautiful family that will never let his experiences through life be forgotten. My prayers n thoughts r will u all.
