Ruth (Parry) Darr

Ruth B. Darr July 9, 1921 – March 19, 2024
Ruth Berneice Darr passed away on March 19, 2024 at the age of 102 surrounded by family at the home of Bob and Holly Darr, in Cheshire, CT. Although saddened by her passing we are filled with joy at the hope she had in Jesus who she is with for eternity. Ruth was born July 9, 1921 in Medford MA to Louis Arthur, and Bertha Cornell (Healy) Parry. She was married to Chester H. Darr on March 4, 1944 in Reading, MA.
Ruth worked part-time at the Torrington YMCA, then as the office manager at Child and Family Services and later as secretary of the First United Methodist Church where she was an active member for 63 years. She sang in the choir and loved to play the piano at church services. After Chet’s passing, Ruth moved into assisted living where she entertained many playing the piano.
Ruth is survived by her sons: Robert Darr (Holly), John Darr (Addie), Rev. Steven Darr (Faith), David Darr (Deborah). She also leaves behind her six (6) grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey, Jeremy, Amber Lee, Hailey and Marissa, ten (10) great grandchildren and five (5) great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Chester H. Darr and son Jeffrey Darr.
Calling hours are April 20, 2024 from 9 to 11 AM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 AM, which will be live streamed from First United Methodist Church of Torrington.
