Gail: I am finally receiving the news of Brooklyn's passing her in SoCal and am so sorry to hear it. I know my late husband, Charlie, thought the world of Brooklyn and we both had/have so many wonderful memories of times spent at Dick's and on the ball field with the softball and tag football teams. I know the feeling of the loss of a beloved spouse and I send my sympathy and condolences to you and your family.

Gail, Tina & Brookie,
I'm shocked and saddened to hear of Brooklyn's passing. He was like an uncle to us growing up. Making us cherry cokes and Shirley Temple's. All of the clam bakes up at Elks pond, the family picnics and birthday parties. Breakfast at Twin Colony on Sunday mornings. I have a lifetime of great memories from growing up over the years in the kitchen of Dick's. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know he's watching down over the family with Billy.
Love and Condolences,
Nicole

Brook will be missed by more people that he touched in his lifetime. He was a very good friend to my late wife Carol who grew up with him in the old neighborhood. I knew Brook through her and from Dick's Restaurant which we frequented often. He was "one of the best" and highly regarded by many. RIP.

Raymond "Brooker" Colangelo, I am heart broken....WOW!! from the good old days, Dick's, Carmans', Teddy's, Regency, Brother Bone's, Delisa"s After Dark....UCONN games season tickets, PSAMS, and Chatterlys I am so going to miss you very very much. Every friday night dinner at Dicks, then we all would go to Teddys and if you were tall enough you could drink or sit under the stage and drink tom collins. Then when the bars closed we all jumped into your cars and off to Hartford we would go, I remember sometimes i would be tired so I would go sleep in your back seat until you all came out...Mecca's in waterbury on Thursday nights, you had a friend at every good restaurant that served great food....The windjammer and the black club what fun you all made a young girls life interesting to say the least. You all took care of me and protected my innocents, What would I have done without you "Brooker"?? Dam it all the good men are leaving me to flee to heaven, your real men who welcomed me in your hearts and lives no questions asked and treated me with love and respect like I was your kid sister... God placed you all in my life to protect and mold me, I am a much better person because of each and everyone of you....Thank you for making my very young adult hood so special, for the life time of memories and for being you. Hugs to Heaven...until we meet again...Brooker I love you, friends forever

Uncle Brook, although it was many years since I last saw you, I remember your grin so fondly (the photo of you on this page captures it perfectly) and, of course, your welcoming hospitality whenever I would stop by Dick's as an adult. You have left behind 2 amazing kids, 3 grandchildren and such a caring, loving wife in Aunt Gail. May you rest in peace and enjoy your just rewards in heaven!

Mrs. Colangelo,

Please accept my deepest condolences. I have so many fond memories of Dick's and watching Brook work. There is no doubt that Brook was instrumental in shaping my passion for fine dining and the overall restaurant experience. As I child, I recognized that Brook was a natural maître d' and his hospitality and concierge minded personality all were qualities that I continued to search for and expect in restaurants all across the globe. Please find comfort in these few modest memories. Reflect on the fact that Brook's silent, kind, and professional actions never went unnoticed or unappreciated from this Torrington kid.
