Mary Edythe Costantino passed away peacefully on April 3 at Wolcott Hall Nursing Home in Torrington. Mrs. Costantino was the daughter of Ernest and Irene Scherwer, and was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Costantino, whom she married in 1947.
Born in Torrington on February 2, 1924, Mrs. Costantino was educated in the Torrington public school system and graduated from Torrington High School in 1941. She studied at New Britain General Hospital and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1945. She was employed at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and later worked in private practice with Doctors Gulliver, Robertson and Irwin in Torrington.
Mrs. Costantino was a Ilfe-long communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church in Torrington and was active on the Vestry and the Altar Guild. She enjoyed various activities including socials at the Torrington Elks Lodge, swimming at Highland lake, baking and canning. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her daughter, Candace and husband, Robert Gallo, of Marlton, NJ.; and son Bryan and his wife, Doreen, of South Dennis, MA. She also leaves four grandchildren-Amanda Cavaliere, Jeffrey Gallo, Tyler Costantino and Kendra Costantino-and two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Isabel Cavaliere.
A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect Street, Torrington.
