Marilyn R. Cleveland, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, Ohio.  Marilyn was born in Torrington, Connecticut on October 7, 1953, the daughter of Victor P. Reis and Jane Pollock Reis.  Marilyn was a graduate of St. Francis Parochial School and Torrington High School Class of 1971.  She was an accomplished pianist and swam competitively for the Torrington High School swim team.  Marilyn graduated from Bay Path University in 1973.  Shortly thereafter Marilyn became an Assistant Clerk of the Litchfield Superior Court, a position she held until she and her family relocated to Sandusky, Ohio in 1989.

            Marilyn enjoyed cooking, loved to read, and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. Marilyn was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge # 730.  She had an appreciation for the holidays and spending them with her family. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren and was deeply involved in assisting her sons with their care.

            Marilyn is survived by her companion of 17 years, Frank Mount of Norwalk, Ohio, her sons, James W. (Jaymie Baker) Cleveland II and Geoffrey A. Cleveland, both of Sandusky, Ohio, and her grandchildren, AJ Cleveland, Zander “Goose” Cleveland, Hayden Cleveland, and Landon “Alf” Cleveland. She is also survived by her father, Victor P. Reis, her brothers, V. Peter Reis, Jr. and Gerald R. Reis, eight nieces and nephews, and her former husband, James L. Cleveland of Sandusky, Ohio.

            Private interment of Marilyn's ashes will be at her father and late mother's burial plot at St. Thomas Villanova Church Cemetery, Goshen, Connecticut at the convenience of her family.  There are no calling hours or funeral services.  Phalen Funeral Home of Torrington has been entrusted with the interment of Marilyn's ashes.

            Memorial contributions in Marilyn's name may be made to Elks National Foundation, 2750 North Lakeview Ave., Chicago, IL 60614 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
