You were a joy to meet, know and be welcomed into your home, Joan. You were self reliant and strong to the very end. May you rest at our Lords side in peace ever lasting. I pray that Korky met you at heavens gate with a wag of the tail and a "slurp" to return the love you gave him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Stolic was one of my favorite teachers. I always enjoyed her class. She had a way about her that made all of her students feel like artist :)

"Stolic" was such an important part of my life at Mills in the 70's! My major was art then and I had many classes with her. She brought out the creativity by teaching that art is in everyone! I've thought of her often through the years. May your family find peace and comfort in knowing she made her mark in this world...

Aunt Joan was a very special part of our family. She was an intelligent, kind, generous, caring, and beautiful woman. Her smile would light up a room and her eyes sparkled. I enjoyed our "teacher talks" and the many rides and shopping trips we took together. It was my pleasure to take you to the wonderful art classes at the college that you enjoyed so much after your retirement. We shared a love of dogs and we certainly spoiled our loyal, furry companions. Victoria and Natalie considered you their third grandmother and enjoyed the many days you spent with them while they were growing up. We were all very fortunate to live next door to you for many years and will miss you. The "Royals Compound" will never be the same without you. We spent many good times together and I will always cherish those memories. Dear Auntie Joan--You will be forever in my heart. Love your niece, Valerie

Joan was born in Brooklyn, NY August 26, 1929. She enjoyed a rewarding life after retiring from 34 years as an art teacher in the Region 10 (Lewis Mills) School System. Pleasures of her life included art, her late dachshund Corky, feeding fish in the pond at her home, doing crossword puzzles, politics, sports fan, and time with her friends and family.

She is survived by two sons, Jon and his wife Marie who reside in Harwinton, Michael and his companion Ann of MA and a daughter, Jill who made her home with her mother and served as her caregiver for the last several years of her life, and her husband Tim, a sister Adrienne and her husband Fred of Litchfield. Joan leaves two grandsons, Alex and Jason Stolicny, although she considered her nieces, nephews and grand nieces/nephews to be her grandchildren, too.
