Hudson,
We are at that age when, sadly, parents leave us. No matter what our achievements and, in your case, travel and success, Mom has been our guide. From my own Mom's death a few years ago, I opened up, accepted and drew strength from all who came to honor her. I never felt closer to all my sibs, their kids, and their kids (!). We shared remembrances of Ma (as all of our 4 generations called her), some funny, most of them poignant. We cried and laughed together.
Your mom was beautiful, loved you, and I hope left you peacefully.
I'm sorry, I would have gone to the service but only today learned of your loss.
