Althea (Britton) Birden

 Althea Birden, 89, of Torrington, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 30th, at her home of 65 years, surrounded by her family after sustaining a fall. She was  the wife of the late Hudson Birden Sr who died in 1997
Born in Torrington, CT on December 8, 1926, a daughter of the late Clara (Prudent)  and Benjamin  Britton,  she was a bookkeeper for the Torrington Building Company,  Hartford National Bank,  and the YMCA.  She was known for her dancing and baking skills and was a member of American Folk Music Assoc. and Torrington Women's Club,   Sorority Beta Sigma Phi and a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church
She is survived by her children,  Hudson Birden Jr of Byron Bay Australia,  Keith Birden and Lisa Clarke,  of Winchester Center,  and long time companion Bruno Arcoma,  5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren,  several nieces and nephews.  She also  leaves a sister Marilyn Arnold of Torrington and was predeceased by a daughter Lorene,  brother Roland Britton and sister Shirley Carlson.
Funeral  Services will be held at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St Torrington CT , at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 4th, with burial following at Barkhamsted Center Cemetery.  Friends may call at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington Tuesday from 5-8 PM.   Memorial Contributions can be made to Saint Paul's Church 837 Charles St Torrington CT 06790.  www.phalenfuneral.com
