Yelitza Hernandez

It’s with a heavy and broken heart that we announce the passing of Yelitza “Lisa” Hernandez of Torrington, CT, on February 6, 2025 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. 

Born in Santurce, PR January 17, 1948, daughter of the late Angel Richardson and Carmen (Ramos) Richardson, she was the wife and love of her life of 61 years to Heriberto “Herbie” Hernandez.

She retired from Torrington Extend-A-Care of nearly 40 years in 2013. She loved cooking for her family and was known for her “rice & beans”, she was an avid bowler and bowled in leagues for over 40 years, and we can’t forget how much she truly enjoyed going to the casinos.

Besides her husband she is survived by her sister Grizelma Cruz of NC, her sister Agneris Hernandez of NJ, her son Angel Hernandez and wife Laura (Lopes) of Bridgeport , her daughter Yelitza (Hernandez) Sherrod and husband Todd of Winsted, and her daughter Vilma Hernandez of Torrington, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many close friends who all loved her.

Services will be Thursday February 20th 10am till 11:30am at Phalen Funeral Home, Torrington and burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington.
