William Carroll

 William Carroll, 88, of Torrington  CTpassed away Thursday, December 19, 2019.
Bill was married to his sweetheart Charlotte Pretak Carroll for 65 years.
He was born in Torrington, CT son of the late Mayor and Lt. Governor William T Carroll and Virginia Carroll. He was a graduate of Torrington High and Boston College. Bill was a lifelong resident of T-Town as he liked to call   it.  Bill was a strong and independent man who played by his own rules,  as was evident by his brief career in the Army.  His wife Charlotte recalled removing his stripes from his uniform due to disciplinary action almost as quickly as he would earn them.  Bill took on many business ventures during his life including insurance, real estate,  appraisals, and farming.  He loved his farm on Pothier Road as much as he enjoyed delivering finger-crushing handshakes.  
In addition to his wife he leaves six children, Katherine Pesce of West Simsbury, Ann Forbes of Bonita Springs FL, William Carroll Jr of Houston TX, Mary Glover of Bridgewater VT, Susan Foster and Robert Carroll of Simsbury 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and brother James M Carroll of Avon.
