Wilhelm Christian Wexler of Winsted was born on October 17, 1938 in Queens, New York and died at Hartford Hospital on May 13, 2024. Willi and his wife Christine grew up in the Quiet
Corner, served in the Army after high school, and moved to Litchfield County after Willi graduated from Bryant College and began his long career at Ensign Bickford. Willi survived 8
separate battles with cancer. On April 18 th Willi attended a lunch with his Ensign Bickford retiree friends and suffered a fall. His friends helped him up, he sat down, enjoyed his lunch of fish and
chips (overcooked, according to Willi) then called the ambulance and was taken to Hartford Hospital where they pinned his hip. Pneumonia unfortunately followed, and upon realizing that
he would not recover, Willi made the decision to say his goodbyes to family and friends and passed away peacefully and on his own terms after 24 hours on hospice. He is survived by his
wife of 63 years, Christine (Sarantopoulos) Wexler of Winsted, his daughters Regina Wexler of New Hartford and Lisa Wexler of New Haven, his beloved grandchildren Lydia Lefevre of
Boston Massachusetts and Arthur Lefevre of New Hartford, his wonderful neighbors on Florence Street, his Ensign Bickford retiree pals, and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He
was predeceased by his parents Christian Joseph Wexler and Maria (Haller) Wexler and his sister Mary (Wexler) Klei. Special thanks to the many caring nurses and staff on the Hartford
Hospital Bliss 11 th Floor and the Hartford Hospital Palliative Care/Hospice team. Arrangements are private. Auf Wiedersehen, Wilhelm.
