Wanda Najman
November 3, 1951 - August 14, 2024
“The song is ended but the melody lingers on.” - Irving Berlin
Wanda Najman’s soul gracefully left this earth on August 14, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at her home in Barkhamsted, surrounded by her loved ones. Wanda was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States where she became a permanent resident in 1956. She became a resident at The Arc of Litchfield County in 2015, where she lived with 4 other ladies, who loved her like a sister. Wanda was known for her spunky, spicey attitude. She would not hesitate to tell you how it is. When she loved someone, she loved them with her whole heart, and that person knew it. She loved talking about all the polish food that her mother used to make her. Whenever she could, Wanda would request to go to the polish restaurants in New Britian. Wanda worked for the Arc of Litchfield County for quite a number of years and eventually chose to retire. When she retired she then attended the Baroco Day Program. In her free time, she loved watching classic movies, listening to oldies music and going to Dunkin Donuts. She was a connoisseur of coffee, kielbasa and potatoes of all varieties. She was ‘coffee sisters’ with her staff. Wanda also had a love for plants and referred to herself as ‘the plant mama’ as well as ‘the house mother’. Wanda was pre-deceased by her Mother in 2016. She is survived by her father Milton (Winsted) her ‘husband’ Robert (Litchfield) as well as many other family members. Wanda was deeply loved by her LARC and Baroco families, and she will be missed greatly.
On behalf of Wanda, we would like to thank Accent Hospice for all the care and support they provided to her; Dr. Jorgenson at UCONN, her LARC family, especially her beloved
manager and staff who supported her at home, as well as her extended family at Baroco.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday August 27th from 4pm-6pm at Phalen Funeral Home. Burial will follow on Wednesday 10 AM August 28th at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington.
