Timothy J. Brosnan, 97, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Born on December 16, 1927, in Gneevgullia, County Kerry, Ireland, Timothy was the beloved
son of the late Michael and Mary (O’Keefe) Brosnan. He was one of ten children, with two sisters and seven brothers. After World War II, Timothy spent time working in England before immigrating to the United States in the 1950s. It was in New York City that he met Nora O’Leary—also a native of County Kerry and the love of his life. They married and settled in Queens, NY, where they raised their four daughters with love, devotion, and a strong sense of family. Timothy enjoyed a long and dedicated career with Consolidated Edison, retiring in the 1990s. Known for his strong work ethic, sharp mind, gentle spirit, and quick wit, he brought warmth and humor to all who knew him. He had a lifelong love of Irish music, long walks, and Gaelic football—always cheering for
County Kerry.
In 1994, Timothy and Nora retired to Lindenhurst, Long Island, where they spent many happy years surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Timothy and Nora moved to Torrington, Connecticut in 2018. Following Nora’s passing in 2020, after 60 wonderful years of marriage, he was lovingly cared for by his daughter Patricia and a fantastic team of caregivers, to whom the
family is deeply grateful.
Timothy is survived by his four daughters: Mary Carr of Lindenhurst, NY; Kathleen Gliganic (Robert) of Seaford, NY; Barbara Brosnan Rivera (Jaimmie) of Metuchen, NJ; and Patricia Veneziano (Joseph) of Torrington, CT. He is also survived by his sister Joan Brosnan of Gneevgullia, Ireland, and his brother Joseph Brosnan and sister-in-law Margaret Brosnan of New York.
A proud and devoted grandfather, Timothy leaves behind eleven cherished grandchildren: Jennifer (Ed Unkle), William (Melinda), Timothy, and Karen Carr; Ryan (Aileen) and Julia Gliganic; Sean, Luke, and Mairead Rivera; and Elizabeth and Lindsey Veneziano. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Vega and Otto Unkle, and Dorothy Carr. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Timothy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, resilience, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed.
