Thomas Olin Wootton, 95, has joined his wife Irma when he died on February 28, 2025 at the age of 95. Thomas was born in Torrington January 6, 1930 son of the late Arthur C. Wootton and Lillian (Wilcox) Wootton. On May 15, 1954 he married Irma Lucia Crameri and they celebrated 57 years together until her death on July 19, 2011.
Thomas was a 1949 graduate of Oliver Wolcott Trade School. He was employed first in the tobacco fields in Connecticut and then delivered milk for Cooperative Dairy in Torrington. He also set up bowling pins at Arcade Alley in Torrington and Orchard Bowling Alley in Litchfield. From there he was drafted into the United States Army and landed in Korea on his 21st birthday and served 21 months. Upon his return from duty, he was hired by Turner and Seymour Manufacturing Company in Torrington and worked for over 43 years until his retirement.
Thomas was an avid photographer all of his life and was a member of the Torrington, Simsbury, and Canton Camera Clubs. he was a past member and past president of the North End Community Association in Torrington. He was very interested in the railroad; trains were as important part of his life as photography. You could often find him by the side of a track taking pictures of the trains he loved. he traveled many places to watch trains and also had his own HO model layout for many years.
Surviving are his daughter Gloria Franconi of Red Hook NY, son Steven Wootton and wife Abbey Fiocci of Glastonbury, grandchildren Joseph Franconi and wife Renee of Wappinger Falls NY, Robin Krupansky and husband Mike of Virginia Beach VA, Eli Wootton of New Britain, and Skylar Wootton of Glastonbury, and great grandchildren Jacob Franconi, Braiden and Cristian Krupansky, Gianna and Jeremy and wife Valeria Molinelli, and great-grandson Mateo Molinelli.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated Saturday March 8 at 10 AM at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. the family will receive friends prior to the service from 9-10 AM. Burial with full military honors will follow at new Saint Francis Cemetery alongside his wife Irma.
