Thomas R (“Tim”) Bronson, age 81, of Harwinton, CT passed away in his home on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Tim found great joy in the simple things: watching sports, spending time with or talking with family, and telling his very carefully curated Dad jokes… over and over and over again. He instilled in all of us an unwavering work ethic, and the importance of having a far-reaching network of family and friends.
He told the greatest stories of his first job at age seven as a caddy at the fancy golf club in Farmington, the catalyst for his legendary golf skills; his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker, which led to the sole proprietorship that employed both of his parents, whom he worked with every day for years; his shenanigans as a teenager that somehow involved a “We Accept Green Stamps” sign and a local funeral home. We will all miss the silly gifts he would give at Christmas, about which we would joke with him that “this will be great for our yard sale.” He was also a huge Red Sox fan.
Tim is predeceased by his brothers Bill and Paul Bronson; and his parents, William Bronson and Edith Johansen Bronson of Southington, CT; his wife, Priscilla Cooney Bronson and brother in law Andrew Baron.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Baron of Farmington, CT and leaves behind loving memories for his children: Thomas Bronson, Jr and his wife Pimmy; Candice Clukey and her husband Richard; Christopher Bronson and his wife Angela; Nancy Francis; Corrinne Pelletier and her husband Richard; his grandchildren: Aaron, Andrew and his wife Angela, Abigail, Cassandra, Genevieve, Madsion, Megan and her husband Matt, Nathan, Shannon and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews, as well as sister in law Barbara Palozzo. He would have loved to have had more time to spoil his three great-grandchildren, Izzy, Matthew and Mitchell. Tim / Dad / Grandpa was humble, kind, generous, smart and loving, and he will be greatly missed.
A service will be held at the Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington, CT on Monday, February 5, 2024 at noon. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund -jimmyfund.org/gift
