Sylvia Rose Wadhams

TORRINGTON --Sylvia Rose Wadhams, 94, of Torrington, passed away March 8, 2021 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Sylvia was born in Torrington, on Nov 3, 1926, the youngest daughter of the late Elizabeth (Wilcox) and James Wadhams.
She was the long time senior bookkeeper for Allied Grocers in both Torrington and Windsor Locks .
Sylvia was involved with Girl Scouts for over 55 years and was an active, 82 year member of First Congregational Church where she served as historian throughout much of her life. Sylvia was active with their Sunday School and Choir. She was also a member of Church Women United. Sylvia never tired of learning. She loved to study and write about local history. She also had a wide variety of interests and collections from rocks and minerals, to antique bottles and buttons.
Sylvia is survived by two nephews and three nieces, many great and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, James G., Arthur C., Richard S. Sr. and Ray F. Wadhams and her sister Hazel Wadhams.
A Memorial service will be held on July 10th at 10:30 AM, at First Congregational Church in Torrington officiated by Rev. Steven Darr.
