Suzanne Lynn Casson, 52, of Panama City, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2023, after her courageous battle with ALS. Born on May 4, 1971, on an Army base in Vicenza, Italy, where her father was serving in the United States Army, she later moved to Torrington, CT with her family where she lived for the duration of her childhood. Suzie graduated from Torrington High School in 1989. She continued her education at Briarwood College with a degree in Travel Management, which led to her career as a travel agent. Suzie loved to travel and went on numerous cruises to the Caribbean and explored many tropical islands with her love, Jeremy Hoving. An avid animal lover, Suzie was a vegetarian for the majority of her life. Although she had no children of her own, Suzie had many fur babies. Suzie was always rescuing stray cats to give them a better life. Throughout her years she spent much of her free time volunteering at MEOW, Inc. in Litchfield, CT, and Paws and Claws in Panama City Beach- both non-profit, no-kill, animal welfare organizations.
Suzie is survived by her mother, Vicki Casson of Albany, GA, father and stepmother, Gerald and Carol Casson of New Hartford, CT, sister and brother-in-law, Caron and Eric Carpenter of South Windsor, CT, stepbrother, Kevin Spring of Winsted, CT, and stepsister, Kelly Spring of Virginia. She was also the proud auntie of Isabelle and Madison Carpenter of South Windsor, and Gracie and Tyler Spring of Winsted. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Jeremy Hoving of Panama City, FL. Suzie also leaves behind many close friends and family in Florida, Connecticut, and beyond.
We would like to thank the nurses and CNAs at Valerie Manor, Hospital for Special Care, and Athena Hospice for their compassion and care for Suzie.
Services for family and friends will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Suzie's memory can be made to the ASPCA or any other local nonprofit animal organization.
