Stephen Louis Kish

Stephen Louis Kish, 81, of Torrington passed away July 3, 2026, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was born in Torrington, September 26, 1944, son of the late Louis and Susan Sikora Kish. He was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Tech, Hartford State Tech Institute, and Central Connecticut State College, and served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era.   He retired from the Torrington Company/ Ingersoll Rand, working as a Quality Engineer. He later worked for the Roller Bearing Company, and had also worked as a Security Officer for Homeland Security at Bradley Airport.

He was an avid traveler inclined to nature and adventure travel throughout the American West and its National Parks, highlighted by a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. He enjoyed ocean cruising, especially around Europe and even a trip up the Danube. Music was his passion, and was an accomplished singer/guitarists performing for years at all the local venues and most recently with his keyboard partner Ken. Steve was an avid golfer and member of Greenwoods Country Club for many years and a passionate sports fan, rooting for the UCONN HUSKY teams and the Boston Red Sox. He was also a Life Member of Torrington Elks Club and was an active volunteer for many causes, helping people on their journey through life and one of those rare exceptional persons who truly made Torrington a better place to live and work.

He is survived by his brother, John Kish (Cindy) of Lexington, SC, and sister Marlyn Winters (Al) of Torrington. He also leaves his nephews Brian DeFrancisco (Diane) and Thomas Nigrelli (Laurie) their son, and nieces Suzanne Nigrelli, Leslie Nigrelli and children, Kathleen Robertson (Matt) and children, and Kelley Medlin (Mike) and their children. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved sisters, Suzanne Kish, Sandra DeFrancisco, and Barbara Nigrelli.
