Stephen John Coyle
TORRINGTON - It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen John Coyle, 59, announces his passing on November 22, 2024, at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Stephen was born in New Britain, CT on July 13, 1965. The youngest of four children, he grew up and attended schools in Burlington, CT., graduating from Lewis S. Mills in 1984. He went on to study at E.C. Goodwin Technical High School earning a certificate in welding. In 1987 he married his best friend and the love of his life, Joyce Carpenter. They made their home in Torrington, CT where they welcomed three daughters into their lives. He took great pride in all his children and loved them dearly. Steve was a Highway Engineer for the State of Connecticut where he worked for over 30 years. He was a true lover of nature and animals and always travelled with his dog by his side. In better times he enjoyed fishing, hiking and gardening. He loved taking his family camping every summer and out in his canoe. Although he faced many personal challenges, he will always be remembered for his (very) dry sense of humor and his love of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Carpenter. He will be loved and missed by his parents Mary Lou and William Coyle of Burlington, CT; his children Nicole Coyle of Colebrook, CT; Caitlin Coyle of Colebrook, CT and Dante Coyle of Torrington, CT; grandson Hunter Pelletier; his sister Joanne Coyle and her husband Mario Evangelista of Marstons Mills, MA; his brother Kevin Coyle and his wife Paula of Burlington, CT; his brother William Coyle, Jr. and his wife Cathy; Sister-In-Law Barbara Carpenter of Torrington; and many nieces and nephews. Although we will miss him every day, we can take comfort in the fact that his struggles are over, and he is now at peace. Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 7th from 2pm to 4pm at the Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Avenue, Torrington, CT. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Stephen’s honor to ECAD-Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities, a non-profit organization in Torrington, CT P.O Box 831 Torrington CT 06790 https://www.ecad1.org 860.489.6550. www.phalenfuneral.com
