Secondina (Pezzi) Franconi

Secondina C. Franconi, 90, of Torrington, CT, passed away Tuesday, September 7th, at River Ridge Assisted Living in Avon. She was the wife of Bruno Franconi, who passed on August 12th, 2021. Bruno and Dina were married 71 years.

Dina was born in Fonzazo, Italy, on October 30, 1930, the daughter of the late Vittoria (Sebben) and Angelo Pezzi, and sister to the late Maria Reale. She immigrated to the United States in 1948. She was employed by Torin Corporation as a chef before her retirement.

She leaves sons Bruce and wife Gloria Franconi and their children Joseph and Robin Krupansky and husband Michael, Robert Franconi and wife Theresa and their children Nicholas and Nathan and wife Chenta, daughter Sandra Franconi and Lisa Achee and husband Jeffrey and their children Kyle and Dylan. Great grandchildren include Jacob Franconi, Braiden and Christian Krupansky.

Dina was the foundation of her Italian family. She loved cooking authentic Italian dishes such as polenta and keeping her Italian traditions alive for her children and grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life. She inspired her family to always persevere and do their best.

Next to her family, gardening was her passion. Her five acres were truly spectacular - vegetables, fruit and nut trees, ornamental bushes, berries galore - and flowers. …….Ahh the flowers! Anyone lucky enough to spend time in Nona’s yard never forgot the experience. 

Our Mom was a beautiful soul inside and out. We love you forever Nona from the bottom of our hearts, and thank-you for instilling in us the value of family and the love of nature, beauty, and all the simple pleasures of life. We will always think of you when we look up at the night sky, hear the birds, eat a garden tomato, or smell a flower. 

Heaven is lucky to have you back.
