Ruth L (Jackson) Grech

Ruth L Grech, 90, of Harwinton passed away Nov. 30, 2024 at Wolcott Hall. Born in Torrington, October 30, 1934 daughter of the late Francis and Verna Brinton Jackson, she was employed by the Billing Dept at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and later was Office Manager of Northwest Cablevision in Winsted, also was a manager of Four Wheelin Roller Rink in Winsted and an administrative assistant for Bantam Lumber. She loved to dance with her companion John at Sullivan Senior Center and having card parties with friends. What she loved most was family, and getting together for dinners and birthday parties. She knitted sweaters, and blankets for charity,  and she rode her bicycle with her great-grandchildren at age 83. She enjoyed being a member of Sweet Adeline's Barbershop for 10 years and served on the K-8 Study Committee in Harwinton where she served on the Board of Education until it was regionalized.

She leaves her longtime companion John H. Williams Jr., of Torrington, and four daughters, Sherry Grech of Harwinton, Sharlene Hyland and husband Greg of Saunderstown RI, Jonna Loftus and Steve Waldron of Torrington, and Jan Cohn and companion Rich Happnie of Walpole MA, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, a sister Carolyn Jackson of Weston, Ct and brother Larry Jackson of Thomaston, and brother- in -law Donald Schultz, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Linda Schultz, Helen Ward, brother Gil Jackson and sister- in-law  Marilyn Jackson.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 PM at Saint Paul's Church with burial following at Hillside Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions can be made to Connecticut Childrens Hospital or Hospice.
