Rudolph William Borrelli, lifelong resident of Torrington, died Sunday May 21 with beloved daughters by his side. He was 92 years old and would have turned 93 on May 31.
Born in Torrington in 1930, Rudy was one of nine children of Peter and Victoria (Mardella) Borrelli. He spent his working years as a machinist at the Torrington Company, retiring in 1995. Upon retirement, Rudy revealed himself to be a talented artist. He carved intricate designs in wood and on leather, and taught himself to draw, leaving behind many treasures for his family to enjoy.
More than anything else, Rudy was a family man. He married Lucy Brauer and they were blessed with six daughters. Lucy died suddenly in 1971 and Rudy's primary focus became his daughters, who made him a beloved grandfather and great grandfather.
Besides his wife Lucy, Rudy is pre-deceased by his daughter Ellen Young and her son Michael Young. He is survived by his sister Rosemary Palker of Florida, and his daughters Diane Clark, Linda Duquette, Jane Borrelli, Rose Mikulski, Marie Serbek, who all live locally, as well as ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family, with arrangements by Phalen Funeral Home of Torrington. All are welcome.
