Rose Moranino Obituary

Rose (Silano) Moranino, 94, of Torrington, CT, beloved wife of the late Orlando "Lonnie" Moranino for 66 years passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with the love of her family by her side.  Rose was born in Torrington on November 10, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (Dell'Artino) Silano.  Rose grew up in Torrington and attended local schools.  After graduating from Torrington High School, she was employed at John Hancock Insurance Company, leaving to start her family.  Further employment was at JC Penney for many years and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

Rose's Catholic faith was extremely essential which she celebrated daily her whole life, watching mass and emphasizing the importance of faith to her family.  She loved to cook with baking being her specialty which was handed down to her from her mother.  Her love for animals and their humane treatment was important to her.  Traveling the United States and Europe was a passion she enjoyed.  She was fascinated by the beauty of the United States and Italy.  In her 80's, she made the decision to travel to the Holy Land, a dream come true, being her most memorable and significant trip.   Spending time with her family brought the most joy, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being able to watch them grow brought her her most cherished memories.

Rose is survived by her beloved daughter Linda and son-in-law Martin of Torrington, grandchildren Brian Paganini and wife Lindsay, Kara Muth and husband Michael of Harwinton, David Moranino of Winsted, Alexis and Nicole Moranino of Torrington, great-grandchildren Tessa and Nicolas Paganini, Milania and Viviana Muth, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband Lonnie, son Robert, sisters Nancy Kelson and Josephine Blandino.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the ER Staff, Dr. Huzzan, Dr Lee and 4th Floor Staff of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their exceptional care, Companions and Homemakers, and numerous family and friends for their kindness over the years.  A very special thank you to Sandy Nelson for her exceptional continued care, love, patience, laughter and kindness over the past 12 years.
