Rose Marie (Gioia) Janssen

Rose Marie (Gioia) Janssen, 88, of Torrington passed away peacefully Sunday Oct. 12, 2025. She was the wife of the late Bernard Janssen. Born in Torrington, daughter of the late Rose and James Gioia, she had been employed by Olivetti Typewriter and Signa Corp. She was known to family for her generous nature and love for her animals, especially poodle Jasmin and kitty Puff-Puff and all her previous pets. She had also flown on the first commercial flight from the US to China

She is survived by sisters, Lorraine Nedergaard and husband Ove of Maitland FL and Eileen (Lynn) Hayes and husband Tom of Torrington and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Samuel Gioia, Vincent "Peachy" Gioia, Anthony Gioia Sr., Thomas Gioia, and Lawrence Gioia. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to caregivers Sue and Helene for making her last years special and adventurous

Graveside Services will be held Saturday Oct 25 at 11 AM at Winchester Center Cemetery
