Ronald E McCarthy

Ronald E. McCarthy was born in Waterbury on March 1, 1951 to Clifford and Mary (Higgins) McCarthy. Ron passed away after a brief illness on February 28th 2023 one day short of his 72 birthday. Ron lived at 101 North Street in Goshen in the family home that his father-in-law designed and built. He was a Licensed Land Surveyor servicing the Northwest corner of Connecticut with his wife Lindsey at his side for more than 30 years. Ron was extremely proud of the young men that he mentored in the surveying industry many of those young men have gone on to become Civil Engineers. Ron was involved with the Nutmeg Ballet Dance family serving as a House Parent and “Dad” to many dancers that came from out of town to study at Nutmeg Ballet, Ron considered himself lucky to have an ongoing relationship with many of those dancers as they have spread out across the Country and World to make their place. As an Elk he served his community as a past Officer and the founding father of the Torrington Elks Club Antlers program, the Antlers brought Ron great joy and mostly kept him young at heart. Ron brought the Memorial Day Flowers Program to the Torrington Elk’s Club and to Goshen’s Memorial Day Service where he worked in conjunction with the American Legion for the past three years to place a Rose on every Service Member’s Grave in the Goshen Center Cemetery. Ron’s daughter Bronwyn and Granddaughter Adeline were his greatest source of joy and pride. Ron leaves behind Lindsey his wife of forty years, his daughter Bronwyn and her partner Nick. His Granddaughter Adeline and Bonus Grandson Carson. His Sister Maureen Kerish, his Brother Kevin McCarthy and his wife Lynn, his Brother- In-Law Don Pardon and his wife Linda and many Nieces and Nephews. Ron also leaves to many cousins to keep track of. His family would like to honor Ron by continuing the Memorial Day Flowers at Goshen Center Cemetery with an ongoing fund.
