Roberta Basquin Obituary

 

Roberta Ann Basquin, 73, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born on May 15, 1952, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Connecticut, Roberta was the beloved daughter of Louis Robert Basquin and Lucia Vanzy Basquin.

Roberta grew up in Litchfield County and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy before continuing her education at Post Junior College. She pursued her passion for healthcare by studying pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, later dedicating her career to serving others as a pharmacist.

A proud veteran, Roberta served her country with distinction during Operation Desert Shield from October 1990 to August 1991 as a Hospital Administrator, achieving the rank of Major. Her leadership and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on those she served alongside.

Roberta was a devout Catholic with cherished Irish roots, and her faith guided her throughout her life. She generously supported charitable causes dear to her heart, including the Abbey of Regina Laudis and Lourdes in Litchfield. Her compassion extended beyond borders, as she volunteered for Haiti hurricane relief efforts, exemplifying her selfless spirit.

Known for her sharp wit, sense of humor, and strong personality, Roberta enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was an avid reader with a love for Southern culture, genealogy, history, and golf. Her intellectual curiosity and vibrant character made her a cherished sister, friend, and colleague.

Roberta is survived by her brothers Richard Basquin and Vincent Basquin and Sharon, her special cousin Annmary Passantino and Larry, along with extended family and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Brighton Gardens of Winston-Salem NC and to the Trellis Supportive Care for their exemplary care and consideration. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Jan. 23 at 11 AM at Saint Peter Church in Torrington. to celebrate Roberta’s life and faith. Friends may call from 10:30 until the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Abbey of Regina Laudis or Lourdes in Litchfield in her honor.
