Richard Mongeau Obituary

Surrounded by his family, Richard F. Mongeau of Torrington passed away peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on September 16, 2020, at the age of 75.

Richard was born on July 24, 1945, in Bristol, CT to Albert Mongeau and Marguerite Lemieux. He spent his early childhood in Bristol and then moved to Burlington, CT. He met and married Linda Ann Quartiero. After graduating from Lewis S. Mills High School, Richard joined the United States Air Force in 1964.  He served his country as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1968.

After discharge, Richard began his career as an Information Systems Manager at a printing company in North Haven, working there for about 30 years through many changes in management.  He was an active volunteer leader in Boy Scouts and spent a great deal of time and energy coaching his sons’ sports teams. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon Mongeau and Kerri Gordon of Minnetonka, MN and Brian and Michele (Denton) Mongeau of Litchfield, CT; six grandchildren, Rachael, Jack, Andrew, Bodie, Katie, and Riley; his brothers, Joseph and Kevin; and several nieces and nephews and their families. He is predeceased by his sister, Holly (Mongeau) Bodycoat, and by his stepmother Muriel (Theer) Mongeau.
