Richard Mastrocola Obituary

Richard Anthony Mastrocola, age 70, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 4, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his devoted wife of 45 years, Cynthia Ann (Deane) at his side.
He was born on January 21, 1952, in Torrington, CT. He was the first son of John and Geraldine (Pastore) Mastrocola of Torrington, CT.  He attended Torrington High School and The University of Connecticut and started his professional career as a Torrington Connecticut Police Officer. Following his time on the force, he spent the rest of his life serving the community as an Addictions Counselor at his private practice, the Connecticut Junior Republic, and MCCA.
He was a proud father and grandfather, and a faithful loving husband. Known to his friends as “Rick”, and family as “Doodle” or “Pa”. He was a strong, handsome, boisterous Italian with an infectious laugh.
To know him was to love him, and his charming presence would make a stranger feel like they knew him a lifetime.   He loved animals and was a gentleman farmer. From sunup to sundown, he worked tirelessly on his parcel of paradise. He would often stand out on the deck, or in his driveway and admire everything he accomplished in the last 52 years on his 7 acres in Goshen. You could find him power washing, riding his tractor, chopping and stacking wood, building rock walls, tending to his chickens and pigs, and making sure his vehicles were in tip top shape. He never sat down, because there was always a new project to be done, and he gladly took on projects and offered his help to others. He truly lived up to his famous line, “I’ve been going all day.”
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Cynthia, his seven children: Zachary (wife Danielle), Rhiannon, Bethaney (partner Zak Brown), Naison (wife Nicole), Garren, Deanne, and Jocelyn (husband Matthew Oropallo), and his 9 Grandchildren, as well as his 2 nephews, Mother, brother Robert, loyal dog Madi, and many sisters and brothers-in-law. Predeceased by his father and his brother Ronald.
Forever and always remembered by all. There are no calling hours, a private ceremony will be held by immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Good Neighbors Fund, Inc., a local cause close to his heart.
