Richard Cosgrove Obituary

Richard Douglas Cosgrove, 87, of Torrington passed away at his home April 13, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones.  Richard was born November 30th 1933 in Valley Stream NY and graduated form Purdue University in 1955 and began his career as a civil engineer working in New York City and Connecticut.  He then was the City Planner and Public Works Director for the City of Torrington from 1965-1984.  Later he was the Management Director of Lakeridge in Torrington from 1984-1999.  He also had enjoyed a long career with the US Air Force,  retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Richard was predeceased by his wife Patricia, brothers James Cosgrove and Donald Cosgrove and his beloved cat Otis

He leaves behind his son Richard Cosgrove Jr and his wife Karyn of Litchfield CT,  and daughter Barbara Arnista and her husband Robert of Harwinton CT as well as his three grandchildren,  Richard Douglas Cosgrove III,  Allison Arnista, and Alyssa Arnista whom he loved very much.

The family would like to thank the dialysis team at DaVita in Torrington for the compassionate care Richard received over the years.  Services are private.  In lieu of flowers,  those to wish to do so may make a donation to The Little Guild of Saint Francis in West Cornwall CT.   www.phalenfuneral.com
