In Loving Memory of Patricia A. Grustas
January 15, 1941 – April 28, 2025

Patricia A. Grustas, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the age of 84. "Pat" lived a life full of love and purpose and was known for her generous heart, vibrant spirit, and deep devotion to her family.

Born and raised in rural Maine, Pat was one of nine children of Raymond and Doris (Sudsbury) Allen. She was predeceased by her parents and six of her siblings: Cleo, Francis (Frank), Raymond (Butch), Virginia (Ginny), Elwood (Joe), and Linda.

In her teenage years, Pat moved to Connecticut where she met James Grustas, the love of her life. Their 63-year marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love, mutual respect, and shared joy. Together, they built a fulfilling life—raising three children, running a successful business, and creating cherished memories dancing, playing cards, and traveling. They enjoyed time in their homes in Connecticut, Maine, and Florida, where Pat could often be seen walking the with her sister Liz.

Pat was known for doing the little things that mean so much. Her warm smile, heartfelt hugs, thoughtful phone calls, and handwritten cards were just a few of the ways she made her loved ones feel seen and valued. Her generosity of heart and spirit also extended beyond her family, as she often lent a hand, offered comfort, or reached out to those in need.

Pat's greatest pride and joy, were her children and grandchildren. She especially loved the holidays when family would return home and be together. A joyous presence in all of their lives, Mom/Nana will continue to bloom in their hearts like the cosmos flowers she grew each year.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband, James Grustas Sr.; her son James Jr. and wife Kimberly of New Hartford, CT, and granddaughters Kayleigh and Miranda; her daughter Valerie and husband Douglas Radziewicz of Bar Harbor, ME, and grandson Raven; her son John and wife Heather (Jones) of Torrington, CT, and grandsons Braden and Coleman; two sisters; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Pat's generous and vibrant presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart.
