Ora J Curry III

Ora John Curry III, 46, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, February 2nd, surrounded by close family at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after battling his illnesses courageously.

Ora was born in Oceanside, NY on October 15, 1975, the son of Ora J Curry Jr and Ellen (Devine) Curry, of Torrington.  A graduate of University of Connecticut and Torrington High School, he was employed as an Account Executive for the Elevator Service Company for 5 years and a part-time Youth Counselor at CT Junior Republic.  Prior to that, he worked at his family car dealership, Torrington Honda, for 13 years.

Ora was a proud Torringtonian and gave back to the community by coaching the city's youth through many different organizations including Torrington PAL, Torrington Little League Baseball and Softball, and the Torrington High School Football Program. He was also a basketball referee for IAABO 7 in Litchfield County. Ora spent most of his time with family and friends, his proudest moments in life spent cheering on his two kids in all of their academic and athletic ventures. He was also always seen rooting for his favorite sports teams which included the Chicago Bears, NY Yankees, and LA Lakers. 

In addition to his parents, Ora is survived by his fiance Holly Myers Russo and her daughter Abigail Russo; his children Ora IV and Daley Curry and their mother Tara Curry; his sister Alison Curry Radwan; nephews Abraham and Khalid Radwan, and niece Somya Radwan, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his family Ora had many wonderful friends that he adored, especially Kevin Bozak and Kyle Campbell, who were like brothers to him.

A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held 11 AM on Tuesday, February 8 at St. Peter’s Church in Torrington.   Calling hours at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, February 7th at Phalen Funeral Home.  Masks required at Church and Funeral Home.  Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Ora Curry (Scholarship) Fund c/o TMTFCU, 777 East Main Street, Torrington CT 06790  on line memorials www.phalenfuneral.com
