Norman Lee Leavitt, born in Boston MA January 21, 1936 son of the late Olive (Lindblom) and Everett Leavitt, passed away May 30, 2026 at Brandywine in Litchfield. He married Amelia Pons in 1960. Norm was known for his love of sailing on Lake Waramaug and loved swimming and fishing off his dock. He was known for his family quotes "Where is Reality" and "Praise the Lord", always making people laugh.
Norm was employed by The State of Connecticut as an electronic technician. He was a ham radio operator and loved to talk to people all over the world, and served in the US Army
He is survived by his wife, Amelia and daughters Melody Scott and husband Richard, and Candice Carrier and husband Leonard and 6 grandchildren, Christal Carrier Aasen; Christin Carrier Plourde, Candida Carrier Poore, Christopher Leonard Carrier, Joshua Scott and Matthew Scott, and 5 great grandchildren.. He also leaves a brother, Wayne Leslie Leavitt and cousins Karen Lindblom Fowler, Juliana Manke, Sean Manke and nephew Keith Demars. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters Jeanne and Pamela Leavitt, great-granddaughter Christeen Lee Carrier and nephews Kyle and Mark Demars and grandparents Gerda and Gustav Lindblom.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday June 3 at Noon at new Saint Francis Cemetery 863 South Main St Torrington. www.phalenfuneral.com
