“Now It’s Time to Say Good-Bye”

Nicholas Friedrich’s soul departed this earth on March 22, 2025. Nicholas, or as he preferred to be called, ‘Nicky’ or ‘Sir Nicholas,’ was born in Paris, France where he lived for his first year until
his parents moved to London. At two years old, his family moved to Long Island, New York, where he lived until the age of twenty-nine. Nicky lived in or around Torrington and New Hartford, Connecticut, for the rest of his life.

Nicky became a resident of The Arc of Litchfield County in 2018. He shared his home with three other gentlemen, all of whom he loved like brothers (and they him). He attended the LARC day
program, where he had quite the fan club and was very popular. He enjoyed singing at the DSO concerts with his friends and “working the crowd” with the microphone. When Nicky loved a person, he loved them with his whole heart and that person absolutely knew it. Nicky was known to give the best hugs in all of Torrington. He had the kindest spirit, an amazing sense of humor, and a unique personality that was engaging to every person he’d meet.

Nicky was an avid sports lover; it did not matter what the sport was, he would talk about any of them. His favorite, however, was golf (Tiger Woods), football (New York Giants), and baseball (LETS GO METS!!!). In addition to being a devoted sports lover, Nicky also loved Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Peanuts. If he was not watching golf or some other sport on television, Nicky greatly enjoyed whopping anybody in a good card game of War or mini-golf (he made sure he held that golf club perfectly, every time). 

This past year, Nick had the opportunity to go to a Hartford Yard Goats Game and he thought he was the king of the stadium! In Nicky’s eyes, his birthday was a national holiday where he would request lasagna and lemon meringue pie. Nicky leaves behind an extensive number of family and friends who love and care about him very much.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Nicky on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 5 p.m. at The Arc of Litchfield County, located at 314 Main Street, Torrington, CT 06790.
