Mildred Ruth (Smatlak) Sholtis

Mildred Ruth Sholtis, 88, of Torrington, CT, passed away Tuesday, July 19th, at home.  She was the wife of the late Milton E. Sholtis

Mildred was born in Johnstown, PA on June 24, 1934, a daughter of the late Anna (Payerchin)  and John  Smatlak.

She and her husband owned Sholtis Oil Service in Torrington and she later worked for Quinoco Oil until her retirement. She was an active member of Northwest Hills Community Church and served as a Deaconess, a member of the choir, and also a Sunday School Teacher.  She served others through visiting the homebound and volunteering at the soup kitchen.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.

She leaves a son Alan Sholtis and wife Angela and their children Nick Sholtis and wife Alexis, Ryan, Alyssa and Ethan Sholtis:  a daughter Susan Toy and husband William and their daughter Grace.  She also leaves a sister Ruth Walton and husband Mark of Oregon and brother Rev. Kenneth Smatlak of Alberta Canada, and sisters-in-law Helen Sholtis of Torrington and Sophie Smatlak of Pennsylvania, and brother-in-law Floyd Saltsman of Indiana  and many nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by siblings John, Paul, Michael, Joseph, Anne, Mary, Margaret, Dorothy, Betty, and Edward.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 26th at Northwest Hills Community Church 342 Prospect St Torrington, with burial following at Hillside Cemetery.
