Maurice J Bourque

Maurice J. Bourque, 97, of Torrington passed away on September 27, 2024 at home. Born in Sanford Me. June 10, 1927 son of the late Vital and Rose Normand Bourque, and was a graduate of St Francis School and Torrington High, and served in the US Army   7th Army Headquarters.   in Stuttgart Germany He was employed for 38 years by the Torrington Company, and later for 13 years at Winsted Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed traveling to tropical Islands and liked to snorkel and scuba dive as well as parasailing.  He also enjoyed gardening and photography. 

Maurice , affectionately known as uncle Maui to his many nieces and nephews, was a man of silent strength. He set an example to all of us how to live as a true Christian. A man of Faith,  he was never angry, anxious, unkind, And he never spoke a bad word about anyone. Uncle Maui never asked for anything, but was always there giving of himself as he filled the role of a second father too many of us,  Maurice was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to his loved ones, and a true joy to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Friday Oct. 11 at 11 AM at Saint Francis Church, with burial following at new St. Francis Cemetery.  www.phalenfuneral.com
