Maureen (Joanne) Zaher Beyus, of Torrington, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully Sunday Aug. 8, 2021 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born Nov. 5, 1943 to the late John and Mary Zaher, she graduated from Saint Francis School in 1957 and later from Torrington High Class of 1961, a Raiderette and YMCA Beta Club Member. She enjoyed running the family clothing store, Jon Marie, with her mother and sisters for many years in Torrington and Bristol.
Her true talent and passion was crafting and her family. She spent many years at craft shows and every Christmas at Saint Francis and Immaculate Heart of Mary Churches.
She is survived by a daughter Debbie (Mitch) Bodnar, sons Ken (Joanne) Beyus, Terry (Maria) Beyus, and Dan (Gretchen) Beyus, grandchildren Brittany, Greg, Nick, Jeff, Christopher, Kayla, Matthew, Bethany, Bryan, Dan, and Aleesha to cherish in their hearts forever. She also leaves great grandchildren Liliana, Jordan, Callie, Anna, Aria, Malik, Max, and Everett brother in law Peter Perlotto and sister in law Joanne Durstin, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son John J Beyus III, brother Robert Zaher, sisters Maryann Pfistner and Kathleen Perlotto. She was a kind and selfless person who will be remembered for the love she had for her family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Aug, 12 at 11 AM at Saint Peter Church. Burial will follow at new Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9:00-10:30 Am at Phalen Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. www.phalenfuneral.com
