Mason Gero, 5, of Torrington passed away Monday, February 14th, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Mason was born in Torrington on February 12, 2017, son of Danielle Kaczynski and Kyle Gero.
In addition to his parents, he leaves grandparents, Christine Mastro & Victor Kaczynski, Stuart Gero & Glenn LaFountain, and Ronna and John Fuhrman. He also leaves several aunts and uncles and cousins, Oliver, Lexi, Wyatt, Giuliana, and Kalani. Mason was the strongest heart warrior this community has ever seen. He battled congenital heart disease for his entire life and had suffered with heart failure the last 4 years. After having an amazing 5th birthday parade, unfortunately his heart was tired and couldn’t take anymore. He was scheduled to leave for Boston children's hospital next week to start his treatments for transplant for a better chance of accepting a heart. Mason and the family were unable to reach that point. He lived an amazing life as full as possible. He touched the lives of so many and was loved by all. He changed the world in the short time of 5 years of being on this earth. He’s a miracle. He will truly be missed and never forgotten. His life will live on through all of us and in the eyes of the recipient that received Mason's corneas just this week. They will now see the world through Mason's eyes. This was Mason's world and we were just living in it.
. Funeral Services will be held Monday Feb. 21 at 11:30 at Saint Peter's Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Everyone is to join the family afterwards at the Columbia Club in Torrington. Memorial Donations can be made to Friendly Hands Food Bank 50 King St Torrington CT 06790 or American Heart Assoc. Children's Heart Foundation at heart.org/CHD
