Mary (Kufchak) Malanca, 88, of Southbury, formerly of Torrington passed away Thursday, January 2nd, at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Amerigo (Doc) Malanca.
Mary was born in Torrington, CT on February 9, 1931 and lived in all of her life Torrington before moving to Southbury Heritage Village 3 years ago. She had been employed by The Torrington Company for many years and enjoyed being a Summer resident at Tyler Lake in Goshen. Everyone enjoyed her apple pies.
She is survived by her grandchildren Andrew and Samantha, nieces Cynthia Stadalnik and husband Alan of Southbury, Jennifer Spinella of Wolcott, Michelle Ruzza and husband Bert of Waterbury, and Kim Voket of Stafford Springsand nephews Michael Ouellette and wife Judy of Prospect and Kenneth Stadalnik and wife Megan of Southbury. She was predeceased by her son Michael, nephew Dennis and wife Joan Malanca, and niece Sylvia Ouellette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 7th at Saint Francis Church in Torrington, with burial following at New St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30-10:30 Tuesday at Phalen Funeral Home.
