Martin Peter Knight, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side listening to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd (one of his favorites) on March 9, 2025 at the age of 65. Born on January 5, 1960 in Maine, he lived a life filled with friends and family who he cherished.
Marty was known for his great hair, his love for his Harley Davidson motorcycles, and for being able to fix anything with wheels. He was an amazing mechanic for many years with a never ending knowledge for cars and motorcycles. He loved to take his kids on the back of his bike on any given day, and they loved it just as much. He enjoyed watching nascar, playing cards with long time friends, and enjoying a budweiser while doing it all. Marty also loved to fish and took his kids with him every chance he got. He taught them how to use a fishing pole, bait the line with worms, which was especially fun for his daughter, and always made them take the fish off themselves. Hall Meadow was the place you could always find Marty cooking up a trout while his kids drove 4-wheelers.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his three sons, Robert, Jacob and Nicholas Knight, as well as his daughter, Marissa Brown (aka Chub). Also, his two sisters, Christie Knight and Francoise “Franci” Knight. Marty was also a proud and loving grandfather to Marissa's three children, Nia, Beau and Knox.
Calling hours will be held on March 29, 2025 from 12-2 pm at Phalen funeral home in Torrington, CT.
Martin's legacy of family, friends and a fun life will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
