Mark Dana Evon of Torrington, Connecticut. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 6, 1956, was a mechanic, musician, master collector of “perfectly good stuff,” and the only man who could find beauty in a busted lawn mower — downshifted into eternal rest on July 17, 2025. He was 69 years old.
Mark could fix anything with a wrench and a muttered “son of a…” He played music that made you feel something. His legendary garage was equal parts workshop, museum, and black hole. Some said it was cluttered. Mark called it “organized chaos.”
He leaves behind his incredibly patient and loving wife, Dawn Evon, who somehow tolerated revving engines, guitar riffs, and Mustang parts strewn like confetti. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Carol Boulanger.
Mark was a proud father to Melissa Evon, Daniel Evon (Caeley), and Bryan Evon (Jaclyn). He was also a devoted stepfather to a beautifully blended crew: Carrie Stewart (Chris), Jason Webb, Richard Webb (Amanda), Colleen Young (Daniel), Christina Blais, Tim McLaughlin (Candice) and Joey McLaughlin. He was preceded in death by his beloved stepson Micheal Webb, who is no doubt saving him a parking spot up there.
His grandkid crew is vast and chaotic — just the way he liked it — including Shane Garbauskas, Jr., Brydan Evon, Jayce Johnson, Levi Evon, Skylar Evon, Ethan Evon, Jayden Stewart, Christopher Stewart, Penelope Stewart, Gaige Webb, Cayden Webb, Gabby Blais, Isaiah Blais, Xavier Blais, Kylie Young, Jaden Williams, Aria Williams, Sunnie McLaughlin, Finn McLaughlin, Keira Platt and Evan Platt.
Mark’s life revolved around three passions: family and friends, his music, and his unfinished Mustang project — a car that was supposed to be “just a few weekends away” from completion since roughly 1997. The Mustang now goes into permanent retirement, respectfully unfinished — just like Mark would’ve wanted.
In his final years, he was lovingly cared for by his devoted stepson, Joey, whose unwavering support, compassion, and presence brought comfort and dignity to each day. Their bond was a testament to the depth of family love - quiet, constant and full of grace. Joey not only honored Mark with care, but with time, patience and a heart full of loyalty.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you fix something instead of throwing it out or play your favorite song a little too loud. If you really want to honor him, start a project you’ll never finish.
