Laurie Fisher Obituary

Laurie Susan Fisher, 66, of Torrington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a long and courageous battle with ALS.

Born in Southbridge, Massachusetts, Laurie was the daughter of Lawrence LaBelle and Gladys Robichaud LaBelle. She attended Notre Dame School and Southbridge High School before earning her associate's degree. Laurie spent many years working at the former Commerce Insurance in Webster, Massachusetts, and later at Founders Insurance in Torrington, Connecticut and the Ericson Agency in Washington, Connecticut before retiring in 2021. She was a devoted member of St. John Paul the Great Parish.

Laurie was known for her love of the beach, planning and taking trips, hosting family gatherings centered around good food and plenty of snacks, and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She had a gift for weaving song lyrics into everyday conversation, loved to crack jokes, and carried a playful, often silly spirit that brought smiles to those around her. Her kindness and genuine concern for others were evident to everyone she met, and she had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Above all, her generous heart was grounded in a deep and abiding faith in God.

Laurie was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Gladys LaBelle, and her brother, Alan LaBelle.

She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Fisher; her sister, Beverly LaBelle and wife, Gayle Joiner; her sister, Celeste Carlson and husband, David; her daughter, Sarah Jean Durham-Simonelli and husband, Tom; her son, Salvatore Vincent Simonelli; her stepdaughter, Abigail Fisher; her stepson, Andrew Fisher and wife, Angela; her sister-in-law, Mary LaBelle; and her beloved grandchildren, Henry Charniak, Margot T. Charniak, Izabella Fisher, and Jaxon Fisher.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, friends, hospice staff, and everyone who offered prayers, meals, support, and encouragement throughout Laurie's journey. Your kindness carried them through some of life's most difficult days.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing Laurie has found perfect peace. Her legacy of love, courage, faith, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
