Karen E. Katchmar Rougeot, age 60, of Torrington, the beloved wife of Rick Rougeot and cherished mother of Daniel J. Barksdale of Ansonia entered eternal rest February 3rd, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after an incredibly brave battle fighting cancer surrounded by her adoring family.
She was born on July 9th, 1962, the beloved daughter of John Katchmar of Hawaii and the late Mildred Rodefer Katchmar. In addition to her husband, son, and father, her cherished brothers J. Scott Katchmar and his wife Betsy of Beacon Falls, Steven W. Katchmar and his wife Anne Marie of Huntsburg, Ohio; two cherished nieces, Jodi Scalzo (Bryan) and Erika Katchmar; three cherished nephews, Nicholas Wilson, Jason Katchmar (Elizabeth) and Jared Katchmar (Rachel); beloved great nieces/nephews Saige, Braydon, Lucas, Liam, Nathan, Kason, and Grace, as well as aunts, uncles (Harry Katchmar), cousins, lifelong beloved friend Liz Lewis, and her adored dog Chole Mae as well as many close friends. She was a claims analyst at Carter’s Inc. for 20
years. Lastly, she was employed by RBC Bearings Inc. for over seven years. Karen had the biggest heart and gave the best hugs and was an amazing cook. In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by her loving sister Kathleen Katchmar Wilson.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday February 7th at 11:00am at St. Michael Church in Beacon Falls, CT. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6th, from
4pm-7pm in the Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Avenue, Torrington. Memorial contributions in honor of Karen may be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital Care, 200 Kennedy Dr, Torrington, CT 06790.
