Judith Ozzone (Hirchak), 79, of Torrington, CT, passed away on May 8th, surrounded by loved ones. Judith was born on July 31st, 1946, in Torrington, CT, to John and Zena (Lanko) Hirchak. She attended The Pearson School of Beauty Culture and went on to pursue a career as a hairstylist in the Farmington and Litchfield County communities. She was married to the love of her life for 59 years.
Judith will be remembered for her unwavering love and support. She cared beyond measure, forever setting herself aside in quiet devotion to others; to her family, she was one of the purest examples of goodness, a gentle, steady inspiration. She was a warrior of strength who faced a horrible disease with dignity, resilience, and grace. She had a passion for cooking and baking and passed this love down to her children and granddaughter. She enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and found solace in the calmness of ocean beaches and the coastal seashore. A precious and constant presence in our lives, she brought joy to everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Ozzone; her children Brian, Eric, and Kimberly, along with their spouses and partners, who were like children to her; and her beloved grandchildren Sara and John Piccoli and Alexis Smith. She also leaves behind her soon-to-be step-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her father John Hirchak, her mother Zena (Lanko) Hirchak, and her brother Douglas Hirchak.
A Memorial Mass will be held on May 30th at 10:00 AM at St. John Paul the Great Parish, St. Francis Church, 160 Main Street, Torrington. CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Judith’s memory to ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Legions, Connecticut Post 38, Torrington, CT. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the HHC Hospice Organization and the aides at Charter Oak of Torrington for their exceptional care and compassion. www.phalenfuneral.com
