In Loving Memory of Joseph Nicholas Spina

March 30, 1950 – May 29, 2025

With deepest sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Joseph Nicholas Spina, who passed away at his home on May 29, 2025 at the age of 75.

Joey was born on March 30, 1950 in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Nancy and Joseph Spina and the brother of the late Alfonze Spina.  

Joey retired from the Torrington Company, and, prior to that, was an Air Traffic Controller in the Air Force as well as a wedding photographer.  He was an avid hiker, cyclist, skier, backpacker, and athlete.   He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.  

He is survived by his daughter, Licia, his son-in-law, Benjamin, his beloved grandchildren, Casey and Luke (and grandson #3 on the way), his partner, Elena, his two nephews, Nick and Tony, and many close friends who will forever miss his one of a kind personality and loving heart.

A celebration of Joey’s life will be held on June 20, 2025 at 12pm at People’s State Forest Pavilion (Barkhamsted, CT). Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his memory.
