Joseph Haddad Sr., 95, of Torrington passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, after a short illness with his family by his side. He was born in Torrington on July 11, 1928, to Effie and Kabalan Haddad. Torrington was his lifelong home. Joe was a graduate of Torrington High and Oliver Wolcott Technical School as a Valedictorian with a degree in electronics. He served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1950-1954. He earned his undergraduate degree from Central Connecticut State College and went on to earn a master's degree in biomedical engineering from RPI. He was a retired biomedical engineer having worked in his field at West Haven VA Hospital and Manchester Hospital. He was a long-time member of Torrington Lodge of Elks.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Helene (Coury) Haddad, and his children Dr. Joseph Haddad Jr and wife Annie of New York City, Joyce Klapheke and husband Jeffrey of West Hartford, George Haddad of New York City and Carol Ferrari and husband Ken of Harwinton. He was the adored grandfather (Giddoo) of Alexander, Rachelle, Caleb, Blaise, Jake, Lauren, Mia, and Sky. He also leaves his sister Doris Sleeper of Caribou ME and was predeceased by his sister Lucy Ruot.
A celebration of Joseph's life will be held at St. Maron's Church on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Calling hours will be at St. Maron's from 10-11 AM, with a Mass following at 11 AM, followed by burial at New St. Francis Cemetery.
