Joseph C Brogis

Joseph C. Brogis, 98, a World War II veteran of Torrington died Wednesday, September 27th, 2023 at Wolcott Hall Nursing Center.  

He was the loving husband of 65 years of the late Elaine J. Brogis. Joseph was born in Waterbury, CT on March 17, 1925, the son of the late Joseph P. and Theresa (Olcikiute) Brogis and was a long time Torrington resident. He proudly and honorably served in the 361st Infantry, 91st Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop of the United States Army as a T/5 radio repairman in Italy during World War II. Following his service, he married, raised a family and worked at Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 41 years as a television repairman and service manager until his retirement. 

He leaves three sons Roger Brogis and wife Joanne, Brian Brogis and wife June and Jeffrey Brogis, as well as grandchildren Lynn Brogis-Niemetz (husband Anthony), Joann Healy (husband Jack), Elayna Bronson (wife Morgan), RJ Brogis (wife Lauren), and Maryssa Brogis, and great grandchildren Brooke Healy, Axton Bronson and Rowen Bronson. He was predeceased not only by his wife Elaine, but by his son Joseph R. Brogis and daughter-in-law Phyllis. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 7th at 11 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam, CT, with burial following at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Mr. Brogis’ family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256. 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Wolcott Hall and Winsted Nursing Care Service for their compassionate care and support of Mr. Brogis during his final months.
