John E. Skinger, 89, of Torrington, passed away Thursday, July 11th, at Valerie Manor. He was the loving husband of Barbara Johnson DeAngelo.
John was born in New Britain on January 10, 1935, son of Mary (Sedeski) and Edward Skinger and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He operated an appliance repair business in Bristol for many years. An accomplished accordian player and teacher, singer and song writer, he had a quartet that player in many area venues.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter Dana Farr and husband Gregory and grandson Daniel Konopka, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predecased by his first wife Joanna (Kryscion) Skinger, brother Edmund Skinger, and sister Leona Gowac.
Services will be held at Connecticut Veteran Cemetery on August 23 at 2 PM.www.phalenfuneral.com
