John Charles Keenan III, 49, a lifelong resident of Harwinton, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, surrounded by his mother and family after suffering from an injury at work. The beloved son of Louise M. Keenan and the late John C. Keenan, Jr., he was born in Torrington, Connecticut on November 17, 1969. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Jacqueline M. Kowalec, and her daughters, Megan and Ella Kowalec, his sister, Carrie-Anne Brown, and her daughters, Taylor, Amanda, Brittney and Carrisa Anne Brown and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his mother, sisters and nieces, and extended family, John had some very special lifelong friends. A graduate of Lewis S. Mills High School, John worked for New England Steel Erector Co.. He loved working in the steel business. In addition to steel work, he had various jobs like roofing, building stone walls and landscaping. John very much enjoyed working outdoors. Before John’s injury, his last employment was at the Torringford West Apartments as a maintenance worker. He was devoted to his mother and very much enjoyed cooking for her. He loved his nieces very much and they loved him and have very fond memories of his contagious laughter. John was smart, sweet, loving kind and deeply loved by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart, Grove Street, Torrington on March 16th at 11 AM.
