Joan C. Kovacs, 90, of Torrington, CT, passed away February 2nd, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was preceded in death by husband Charles Potter. Joan was born in Bridgeport on January 5, 1933, daughter of the late George and Mary Kriz Schmeider.
After getting remarried to her now husband Victor Kovacs, she lived in Las Vegas for some time. She loved the UNLV Running Rebels basketball. Joan also loved the casinos playing Video Poker, Bingo and Texas Hold Em. Most days she would enjoy watching The Price is Right and CSI Las Vegas on Tv. Rather than flying back to visit family in Connecticut, she would travel cross country with her husband in their Fifth Wheel Camper multiple times a year. While in Connecticut she would enjoy watching her New York Yankees and New England Patriots, along with fishing, miniature golf, and playing nightly card games with family. In 2004, Joan and her husband decided to sell their camper and house in Las Vegas to permanently transition to Connecticut to be closer to her family members. In addition to her husband, she leaves sons Craig Potter and wife Janet of Goshen and Charles Potter and wife Haya of Shelton, grandson Craig Brian Potter and granddaughter Colleen Johnson.
A private Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Thomas Church in Goshen. www.phalenfuneral.com
