Joan Herzberg Obituary

Joan Bonnin Herzberg, 86, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, in Greenville, South Carolina. 
Joan was born on September 26, 1937, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, Connecticut to Roger and Louise James. She attended primary school at St. Francis School and
graduated from Torrington High School in 1956. She was married to Robert Herzberg on May 11, 1957, and they had four children. They made their home in Torrington where she was an
administrative assistant for the State of Connecticut. She also earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University on May 1991. In her later years, she served on the parish council, was a Eucharistic Minister, tutored school-age children in reading, and sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eldest daughter, Arlene Herzberg.
She is survived by her sons, Michael and wife Tina Herzberg of Moore, South Carolina and Steven Herzberg of Winchester, Virginia; daughter Linda and husband Richard Cass of Sudbury, Massachusetts; and sister Janet and husband Gene Montgomery of Prattville, Alabama. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Robert and wife Elizabeth Herzberg, Benjamin Herzberg,
Ryan Herzberg, Anna Cass, Phillip Cass, and Hallie Herzberg.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor or memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital

A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Torrington, Connecticut. Burial will follow at the New St. Francis Cemetery.  www.phalenfuneral.com
